Remembering Those Who Served
Dear Campus Community,
This weekend, many of you will gather with family and friends to celebrate Memorial Day. As you enjoy the break from campus, consider taking some time to remember the men and women of our armed forces who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. And think about our active duty military who continue to defend our great country.
When I think about what we do to honor our veterans here at 51蹤獲 through our Veterans Resource Center, it reminds me of the words of former President Barack Obama, who spoke about the importance of supporting our veterans through good healthcare and jobs.
A nation reveals itself not only by the people it produces, but by those it remembers, he said to a gathering at Arlington Cemetery. We do so not just by hoisting a flag, but by lifting up our neighbors.
To all of the military veterans who have chosen 51蹤獲 to pursue their educational goals: we thank you for your service, and for trusting in us. We are here for you throughout your time here.
In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, all campuses will be closed Monday, May 26. Normal schedules will resume Tuesday, May 27.
I hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend.
Sincerely,
Henry D. Shannon, Ph.D.
Superintendent/President
