Free Speech and Community Organized Events on Campus

Dear Campus Community,

On Wednesday night community members gathered at 51ÂÜÀò’s Rancho Cucamonga campus to remember the life of Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk. The event was organized by an outside community group and not hosted by 51ÂÜÀò.

As a public institution, community members are permitted under state Education Code 76120, as well as our own board policies (AP and BP 3900), to engage in free speech and expressive activities on designated areas on campus. Areas where such activities are allowed include the lawn outside of SSA, the Rancho Cucamonga and Chino campus quads and the open area between buildings at the Fontana campus.

As a public college we safeguard the First Amendment and the freedoms it protects, regardless of politics. We also do not support violence of any kind. Moreover, we remain committed to our institutional values and mission of improving lives through education for all students and protecting the rights of all students.

Sincerely,
