Art History

At 51ÂÜÀò, the Art History program equips students with a strong foundation in visual literacy, cultural awareness, and critical thinking—skills highly valued across a wide range of careers. The program prepares students for transfer to CSU/UC campuses and for professional pathways in education, museums, research, and beyond. Students explore diverse artistic traditions, including Western and Non-Western art, contemporary practices, photography, and graphic design, while learning to analyze how social, political, and religious forces shape creative expression. The Art History curriculum emphasizes inclusive perspectives and fosters transferable skills in research, communication, and analytical reasoning that prepare students for success in today’s global and evolving workforce.
