President's Update

COVERING APRIL 2025

A Message from Superintendent/
President Shannon

President Henry Shannon

Dear 51ÂÜÀò and Community Members,

We are at the eve of graduation season at 51ÂÜÀò, a time of year we do not take lightly. With nearly a dozen cultural and program-specific celebrations underway on our campuses, spirits are high and hearts are full as our students reach a significant milestone in their lives.

This excitement will lead us to our 108th commencement ceremony at the Toyota Arena on May 22. This year we are excited to have award-winning filmmaker Moisés Zamora as our keynote. I look forward to celebrating our graduates with all of you in the coming weeks.

During April, we welcomed more than 1,000 prospective students and family members to our campus Open House events in Rancho, Fontana and Chino. Seeing future Panthers get excited about their futures and being accompanied by their loved ones was very inspiring. As we know, education has the power to transform not only the lives of our students but also their families. See photos from our event.

One of the ways we get young people excited about college is through our Dual Enrollment program. Our high school Dual Enrollment allows high school students in our region to take tuition-free college courses – enabling them to get a head start on their college careers. Our Dual Enrollment program continues to grow year after year thanks to the hard work and dedication of our support staff, faculty and partnering schools. If you have a high school student at home, consider our Dual Enrollment program by attending an info session.

Registration for Dual Enrollment and our general sessions for summer and fall is now open! I look forward to welcoming the next wave of Panthers very soon!

While the next few weeks leading up to commencement will bring a lot of excitement, busy schedules and deadlines can also bring stress. Remember to take breaks, make time for your mental well-being, and most-importantly, take in the moment.

Go Panthers!

Sincerely,

Henry D. Shannon, Ph.D.
