LVN to RN Advanced Placement

  • Must meet all generic ADN prerequisites, including minimum GPA requirements: 2.80 GPA in science courses, 3.00 GPA in general education courses.
  • There is no recency or repeat policies on the prerequisites or general education coursework for this pathway.
  • Hold a current California LVN license. It must stay valid throughout the program.
  • Complete NURADN 3 and 3L (Transition in Nursing) courses.
  • Take and pass the ATI TEAS exam with a score of 62% or higher as part of the application process.
  • LVNs with current California licensure.
  • Admission depends on space availability. It's not guaranteed even if you meet all requirements.
  • Attend an ADN Information Session.
  • Meet with a 51ÂÜÀò Counselor to complete an educational plan.
  • Follow regular ADN application timelines, attend an ADN Application Workshop and submit the Multi-Criteria Evaluation Request Form during the ADN application period.

  • This is a certificate-only pathway—not a degree. You won’t graduate with an ADN, and Chaffey won’t list you as an ADN graduate.
  • The 30‑unit option allows you to take the NCLEX-RN, but many states may not accept this as RN licensure by endorsement.
  • If you plan to pursue a BSN or graduate at another college, you may face transfer challenges without an ADN degree.
